Anselmo Cepero-Akselrad, MD
Biography:
Dr. Anselmo Cepero-Akselrad is a Board-Certified Pediatric Nephrologist. He received his medical degree from the University of Havana in Cuba and completed his residency training in General Pediatrics at the Miami Children’s Hospital, which was later renamed Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. From 1986-1988, he had a Fellowship in Pediatric Nephrology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
In 1988, Dr. Cepero-Akselrad became a member of the Pediatric Nephrology Division at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, where he developed the Chronic Hemodialysis Unit. His other clinical interests include hypertension, collagen vascular diseases, and urinary incontinence. In 1996, he created the Center for Enuresis & Urinary Disorders/Urodynamics, serving as Director until 2016. Additionally, Dr. Cepero-Akselrad started the practice of in-office renal/bladder ultrasound.
He served as the Director of Pediatric Nephrology and as President of the Medical Executive Committee for two terms at Nicklaus. Dr. Cepero-Akselrad is Board-Certified in Pediatrics and Pediatrics Nephrology. In addition, he has published numerous scientific publications. He has over 35 years of experience in the Pediatric Nephrology field and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
