Mislen Bauer, MD
Biography:
Dr. Mislen S. Bauer MD is a board-certified clinical geneticist, with over four decades of experience in pediatric genetics and metabolic disorders. She currently serves as the Director of both the Craniofacial Center and the Neurofibromatosis Program at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, where she specializes in the diagnosis and management of complex genetic conditions, including NF1 and NF2.
Dr. Bauer earned her medical degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia. She completed her pediatric residency at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, followed by a fellowship in the Division of Genetics at the University of Miami.
In addition to her clinical roles, Dr. Bauer serves as the International Coordinator for a medical exchange program between Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and Hospital Infantil Lorencita Villegas de Santos in Bogotá. She also holds staff privileges at South Miami Hospital and Baptist Hospital.
Dr. Bauer is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and is board-certified in clinical genetics and genomics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics. Her research contributions include co-authoring a 2024 study on ACBD6 gene variants linked to neurodevelopmental syndromes.
