Mariela Riegger, APRN
Biography:
My name is Mariela Riegger. I began my career as a Registered Nurse in Toronto at a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). However, from an early age, my passion was to help pediatric patients with diabetes. Shortly afterwards, I became a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES) which permitted me to work at a pediatric diabetes and endocrinology clinic, and I had the pleasure of working with patients with type 1 diabetes, thyroid disease, and disorders of growth and sexual development. Since 2016, I have worked in pediatric diabetes, endocrinology and metabolism at Toronto SickKids Hospital, Diabetes Camps, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario and Advent Health for Children in Orlando, Florida. I am also very experienced in diabetes technology including insulin pump therapy, Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and closed loop insulin delivery systems.
In 2019, I completed my Master’s of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner program at Regis College in Massachusetts. I also possess a Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist Certificate. My clinical experience includes Internal Medicine, Urgent Care, and Women’s Health. Since obtaining my Master’s in Nursing my dedication remains to pediatric patients with diabetes and endocrine disorders. I am committed to the health and quality of life of the patients and families I serve.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my young family, trying new foods, and travelling!
