Jose R. Mateo, MD
Biography:
Dr. Jose R. Mateo is a pediatric infectious disease specialist at KIDZ Medical Services. He is known for his calm, steady communication style and for helping families understand complex diagnoses with clarity and confidence.
Dr. Mateo was born in the Dominican Republic, where he attended medical school at Universidad Nacional Pedro Henríquez Ureña. He completed his pediatric residency training at Henry Ford Hospital / University of Michigan in Detroit, where he also served as pediatric chief resident. He then completed fellowship training in pediatric infectious diseases at Children’s National Health System / George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
He is board‑certified in both pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases by the American Board of Pediatrics. Dr. Mateo is a full fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, and the HIV Medical Association.
Dr. Mateo speaks English and Spanish and is dedicated to providing thoughtful, evidence‑based care for children with infectious diseases and supporting families through every stage of treatment.
