Anselmo Cepero-Akselrad, MD
Biography:
Dr. Anselmo Cepero‑Akselrad is a board‑certified pediatric nephrologist at KIDZ Medical Services with more than 35 years of experience caring for children with kidney disorders. He provides thoughtful, evidence‑based care for both common and complex nephrology conditions, offering families clear guidance and steady support.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Havana in Cuba and completed his residency in general pediatrics at Miami Children’s Hospital (now Nicklaus Children’s Hospital). He then pursued fellowship training in pediatric nephrology at New York Hospital–Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Cepero‑Akselrad joined the Pediatric Nephrology Division at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in 1988, where he developed the Chronic Hemodialysis Unit and expanded services for children with hypertension, collagen vascular diseases, and urinary incontinence. In 1996, he founded the Center for Enuresis & Urinary Disorders/Urodynamics and served as its Director for two decades. He also introduced in‑office renal and bladder ultrasound to improve diagnostic efficiency and patient care.
Throughout his career, he has held key leadership roles, including Director of Pediatric Nephrology and President of the Medical Executive Committee for two terms. He is board‑certified in both pediatrics and pediatric nephrology and has authored numerous scientific publications in the field.
Dr. Cepero‑Akselrad is bilingual in English and Spanish. He emphasizes clear communication and practical guidance so families feel supported and confident throughout their child’s nephrology care.
