Biography:
Dr. Maria E. Franco is a pediatric pulmonologist at KIDZ Medical Services with more than two decades of experience caring for children with complex respiratory conditions. She is known for her steady, thoughtful approach and for helping families understand their child’s diagnosis with clarity and confidence.
She earned her medical degree from Nuestra Señora del Rosario Medical School in Bogotá, Colombia, and completed her pediatric residency at Crozer Medical Center in Philadelphia, where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Franco then completed fellowship training in pediatric pulmonology at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. She is board‑certified in both pediatrics and pediatric pulmonology.
Dr. Franco has held a long‑standing leadership role at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, serving as President of the Medical Staff and overseeing an 800‑physician medical staff. Her work reflects a commitment to advancing high‑quality pediatric care and supporting collaborative, multidisciplinary practice.
She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and has volunteered internationally as a pediatric intensivist with Operation Smile, providing care to children in Kenya, Brazil, Ecuador, the Philippines, and Vietnam.
