On Sunday, November 16, 2014, more than 4000 participants turned out for the Tommy Hilfiger Zoo Run 5K and the Kidz Medical Services Zoo Kids Dash at Zoo Miami. The event benefitted West Kendall Baptist Hospital and the Zoological Society of Florida. The Zoo Kids Dash was held in the Zoo Miami parking lot and featured races for children in various age groups, including a 100-meter dash for 2-3 year olds, 200-meter dash for 4-5 year olds, 400-meter dash for 6-7 year olds, and 525-meter dash for 8-9 year olds.
The Zoo Run 5K was open to all participates, young and old. While cheering monkeys and sun-basking lions looked on, entrants in the Zoo Run 5K followed a 3.1-mile course that wound through the Zoo and ended at the main stage. The main stage featured music and entertainment, as well as awards for the top race finishers in each age group. At the main stage, all of the sponsors, including Kidz Medical Services, set up tents and supplied participants with food, drinks and giveaways.
More than 50 employees and family members from Kidz Medical Services represented KMS at the event to show support for West Kendall Baptist Hospital and the Zoological Society of Florida. All race participates received free entry to the Zoo for the rest of the day, plus 50% off admission to the Zoo for friends and family on the day of the race.
